* Fixed Codices, flexible lists. You must use the same Codex for the entire
league, you may switch lists between every game. Any codices that are updated
during the league may be used when they become available.
* Registration is $10, at Yottaquest, and at that time the players must declare
which Codex they will be using. Registration will continue until January 3rd.
* Every attempt will be made to avoid mirror matches (two armies of the same
codex facing each other). However, this may be unavoidable due to the nature of
the armies that are entered into the league.
* email
matthewm@yottaquest.com
with any questions or concerns
* One match every two weeks, time to be arranged between the two opponents. If
you are unable to contact your opponent after several attempts during the two
weeks, contact me ASAP. Players may be dropped for failure to play. The purpose
of this league is to play some cool 40k games!
* Once everybody has signed up for the league, an email will be sent out with
everybody's contact information. It is your responsibility to arrange the
matches.
* Scenarios may be anything that both people agree on. If you are unable to
decide, pick a random one from the 40K rule book.
* Once the game is over, you should post the results on the store forum,
indicating a Win, Loss, or Draw. There will be a new results thread for each
round.
* There will be 5 rounds, at the end of 5 rounds there will be a two round,
single elimination tournament between the top 4 players, with all 4 players
receiving prizes. Playoff games will be conducted on SUNDAY March 21st.
* All rules disputes should be handled between the two players involved if at
all possible. If you want a more official solution please consult the Adepticon
FAQ. There is now a copy at Yottaquest for reference. If you are unable to
resolve the issue using the FAQ, please ask a store employee to resolve the
issue for you or dice off.
* WYSIWYG will not be strictly enforced, encouraging people to make conversions,
use old models, avoid overly pedantic arguments. People are encouraged to use
their common sense, and use models that avoid confusion for your opponent. (Ex:
no claiming that a grot model is a stand-in for a warboss, no coffee can
dragons.) All models should be completely assembled, and based appropriately.
* Players should show up to every match with a legible written army list.
This army list should be available upon request of your opponent, and you should
make every effort to also have a copy of your codex and the main rule book to
help resolve any rules issues.
* For people who are having trouble determining what a reasonable amount of
terrain on the board should be. First, please play whatever you both feel is
going to be fun. Second, if you and your opponent are unable to agree on whats
reasonable and fun, please use the following procedure.
I) Roll a D6+3. This is the total number of terrain pieces that will be used. A
terrain piece is something like a woods, road, hill, building, etc. A good
guideline is something ~12", or is capable of providing cover for a squad
or vehicle.
II) Roll off to determine who will place the first piece of terrain. This person
places that piece anywhere on the board they want.
III) Alternate placing terrain until you have reached the total amount rolled.
IV) Proceed to determine mission and deployment.
Warhammer 40k Pyramid League
Format: 1000 points Fixed List
* Fixed lists. You must use the same force for the entire time you keep it
registered in the 'league'. In order to switch lists, you must re-register a new
army and begin again at the bottom of the pyramid. Any codices that are updated
during the league may be used when they become available, however, if you change
your list, you will still need to re-register and join at the bottom again. You
MAY continue with your old list/codex if already registered.
* Registration is at Yottaquest, and at that time the
players must register a list, showing units, options and total points for EACH
UNIT. Each army will be issued one Challenge Token upon registration.
* Challenge tokens will be issued at the start of business
every sunday to each 'bottom tier' participant who does not already have a
token. When a challenge is announced (on the forum) the challenged player
has 7 days to respond and set up a match.
* email osiris513 at gmail with any questions or concerns,
Yottaquest staff can also help you. (Yottaquest staff has the final
ruling/decision over any disputes)
* Players may drop or join AT ANY TIME! This is an open
ended league.
* Players MUST be registered on Yottaquest forums in order
to communicate challenges and in order to set up matches. Some
emails/phone numbers will be available as well at Yottaquest.
* Rules for each match will be strictly from the Newest
editon of the rules and FAQ's from Games Workshop. This DOES NOT include the
Adepticon rules. Any rules disputes should use the golden rule of warhammer (Ie.
if you can't decide, roll a die, 4+ = player A is right this time, 3- = Player B
is right...) If you still can't agree, a member of Yottaquest staff can
make a ruling.
* Once the game is over, you should post the results on the
store forum, indicating a Win or Loss. NOTICE: THERE WILL BE NO DRAWS- in
the event of a Draw (kill points or objective points being tied at the end of a
game) use the rules for calculating Victory Points to determine the winner.
These are found in the main rulebook.
* Although there are no money prizes, There is a TROPHY and
bragging rights to be fought for!
* Although WYSIWYG will not be strictly enforced, model
proxies should be kept to a minimum, the right type of troop/vehicle/creature
should at least be used, and it should be VERY OBVIOUS what type of
armament/options are equipped. The GW "counts as" rule is in
effect so people with old or out of production models may feel free to use them.
Any questions about what model represents what unit on a list should be
discussed BEFORE a match.
* Players should show up to every match with a legible
written army list, be certain that you include total points cost for each UNIT,
as this may be used to calculate Victory Points. This army list should be
available upon request of your opponent, and you should make every effort to
also have a copy of your codex and the main rule book to help resolve any rules
issues.
* Terrain should be done based on whatever the two players
agree to, if no agreement is easily used, use the rules from the rule book for
placing terrain (at least 25% of each quarter of the battlefield should be
covered in terrain of some sort). Likewise, Mission and Deployment should
be rolled for, unless both players agree to something different.
* Players may accumulate challenge tokens and use them at
will (remember though the challenged player has 7 days to answer any challenge,
this means to SET-UP a match, not to necessarily play it) However, upon
occupying the top slot, a player sacrifices ALL of their accumulated tokens and
must gather 3 from defending that slot.
* Players that already have a challenge pending CANNOT be
challenged again or issue another challenge until that challenge is resolved.
(this is for obvious reasons, as the result of a challenge may put them in a
position where they cannot be challenged by or challenge someone in their new
tier)
* Players in the SAME tier may challenge each other only if
there is an empty slot in the tier above them. The winner may move into this
slot. If two sets of players in the same tier BOTH accompish this feat,
priority will be given to the player with the earliest recorded challenge.
* Normally in this type of league, a player must be
physicaly present at the board in order to issue a challenge, however, we are
going to try to do this online at the forums, keeping track of tokens and times
of challenges/etc.
* The 'Nobody will challenge me' rule - A player in Tier 2
or 3 who has no challenge tokens through a time period that includes TWO of the
sunday token issues will be given a special type of Token Challenge that will
allow them to challenge ANY player in their own tier or any lower tier (again as
long as they dont already have a challenge pending) to steal all of that
player's challenge tokens. The result of this game WILL NOT move any
player up or down the tiers, it will simply determine who gets to take control
of the challenge tokens.
* One list per player. (Updated 11/23/2009)
